40 Greatest Players in Brooklyn/Los Angeles Dodgers History

Los Angeles Dodgers World Series Championship Scaled

The Dodgers franchise is one of the most storied clubs in baseball history.

The team was established in 1883 in Brooklyn, but did not take on the name “Dodgers” until 1932.

Since 1932, several great players have won Dodger blue.

Sixteen National League Pennants have been won since the name “Dodgers” was adopted. Six World Series Championships have been won.

Forty-nine Hall of Famers have been affiliated with the club during it’s entire existence (dating back to 1883). Fifteen players have been inducted wearing a Dodger cap.

Although this list will only focus (primarily) on players donning the Dodger blue after they officially adopted the name in 1932, there are several other greats that are a part of the Dodger family.

Since this is a list of players, Tommy Lasorda and Vin Scully are not mentioned in the presentation itself. They are deeply entrenched in Dodger lore though and are forever a part of the soul of the Dodgers.

Zack Wheat, Walter Alston and Walter O’Malley also hold a special place in Dodger history.

The following 40 players from the Dodger’s past, and a pair of current players, represent some of the best in the franchise’s history, worthy of being mentioned with the above names.

If I missed a Dodger great, please feel free to include them in the comments. If time permits, I will do my best to add them in later to make this a more complete list (within reason). If you disagree with a selection, that’s fine, but remember that they were a contributing Dodger at one time, and were probably great to at least a portion of the fanbase, if not to yourself.

As always, thanks for taking the time to read. Hope you enjoy this trip down memory lane.
